FAAC S450 gate operator installed at luxury estate
05 Jul 10
FAAC automatic gate operators are being used to help step up security following several incidences of burglaries targeting luxury homes in the Lancashire area.
FAAC’s S450 swing gate operator is proving a popular choice for residential properties due to its slimline appearance and built-in anti-crush protection, the company claims.
Lancashire security installer North Valley Forge has recently installed automatic swing gates to a residential property using the S450 hybrid operator, which combines the hydraulic technology with a 24V DC motor.
The S450’s continuous duty cycle makes it ideal for this particular application as the proprietor also runs a small commercial business from the premises, FAAC says.
Richard Ratcliffe, director at North Valley Forge, said: “The property is in a very remote area and the owner was quite rightly concerned about security.
“We specified the FAAC S450 because the gate is made of wood, so it required a hydraulic operator that could withstand the wind resistance.
“As the gate is used for business access, it has a higher use rate than a typical residential property, so it was important that we used an automation system with a high opening/closing speed.”
Fully compliant with current European safety standards, the S450 operator incorporates a FAAC patented Bus encoder, allowing the gate to reverse if an obstacle is detected.
The rear bracket can be adjusted for greater flexibility and its housing is transparent for LED visibility, enabling easy set up and maintenance. Integrated mechanical stops eliminate the need for externally mounted stops on the ground and its long stroke of up to 311mm aids ease of installation.
