BSIA regional winners recognised for "excellent work" in security

30 Jan 10

The regional winners of the British Security Industry Association’s Annual Security Personnel Awards 2010 have been announced. Brian Sims reports.

These prestigious awards recognise the excellent work being carried out – and the vital contributions that those employed in the security sector are making – across the UK.

The BSIA’s Annual Security Personnel Awards were previously known as the Annual Security Officer Awards. This year, progress and development means that there has not only been a change of name but the scheme has also been broadened to encompass close protection officers and door supervisors as well as security officers.

Categories and judging for 2010

The Security Personnel Awards are still presented in the following categories: Service to the Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology and Best Team.

As always, accolades are presented regionally throughout the UK, with the winners going forward to the national judging phase which is chaired by Professor Martin Gill from PRCI. SMT Online’s Editor Brian Sims is one of the judges, as is Bobby Logue (Editor of infologue.com)

The national winners will then be presented with their awards at the BSIA’s Annual Luncheon, which takes place on Wednesday 14 July at The London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane.

Speaking about the Security Personnel Awards, James Kelly – the BSIA’s chief executive – commented: “Those working in security make an outstanding contribution to British business, and prove just how essential a role the industry plays in the UK.”

He continued: “This year’s regional winners have been selected from an extremely high standard of entrants. Our winners were awarded for the brave acts and high quality of customer service that they have demonstrated. They illustrate the high professional standards that we expect from security operatives.”
