Security consultant
03 Oct 07
This award is presented to an individual or practice deemed to have demonstrated excellence in the discipline of security consulting. Sound evidence of active leadership – and an ongoing participation in the wider security community – are key criteria for this category of the Awards. And the winner is... Buro Happold
The past 12 months has been an exciting and challenging period for Buro Happold Security Consulting. New projects have included Security Master Planning for the 2012 London Olympic Games, work on the design of the main Olympics Stadium, Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium (for which the company was voted Engineering Consultancy of the Year) and the Chicago Spire (the tallest building in the world). The company is still consulting on the Grand Egyptian Museum and the wider Wembley site. All the while, the practice has been active in understanding – and integrating – the disciplines of fire engineering, inclusive design, crowd movement and evacuation, IT and communications, Health and Safety, building management and security, thereby ‘sealing’ the built environment for its clients and the wider community. Indeed, the security consulting practice has recently been renamed ‘Happold Safe and Secure’. In the wider security community, Buro Happold’s consultants regularly speak at major conferences and at Special Interest Group meetings. They have also organised events for facilities managers on topics including business continuity.
