Maddrell joins HRS as chairman

Maddrell currently holds chairman roles at self-build hub BuildStore, investment company F&C’s UK Select Trus,t and property company Economic Lifestyle Property Investment Company.

He has recently stepped down as chairman of the UNITE Group, the leading student accommodation provider.

Maddrell was previously chairman of housebuilder Westbury at the time of its £643m acquisition by Persimmon and chairman of building supplies group Bowater Corporation during its expansion into continental Europe - during which time he re-structured several well-known European businesses.

Educated at Cambridge University and Colombia Business School, he was also Chief Executive of textiles group Total at the time of its £395m acquisition by Coats Viyella.

HRS was established in 2002 by former Accenture technology strategist Neil Norman. The business has as a provider of technology-driven identity assurance solutions and consultancy services, manipulating pioneering biometric and human behaviour analytics technology to provide customised business improvement systems for its clients.

Its projects delivered include an iris and fingerprint technology-enabled methadone dispensing system for the Department of Health, which is used in over 100 prisons, and the first automated biometric access control scheme for all staff working airside at Manchester Airport - the UK’s largest airport outside London. Other clients include the Ministry of Defence, infrastructure services company Carillion and BNFL.
