Casino gets Synectics monitoring system

06 Sep 07

A high-performance monitoring system from Synectics is being used to safeguard gamers at the Domina Grand Media Casino in Slovenia.

Following an internal review of security, casino surveillance specialist ED Electronic Design was called in to specify a new system suitable for the building's modern gaming environment.

Just three kilometres from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, the recently completed system uses Sony HDV 900, JVC TKC 920E and 360VISION VID-1800P04-FC-NP cameras.

Information from these cameras is transmitted to a 256 input Synectics ‘Tesseract SM’ switching matrix. The matrices are described as compact and lightweight and Synectics claim they are compatible with most popular brands of peripheral equipment.

ED Electronic Design’s CEO, Marko Fric, said, “As well as the operational benefits gained from the Tesseract Matrix’s ease of use, using Synectics switching control provides us with a reliable performance benchmark, easing the complexity of an intricate installation”.

“The matrix controls 152 cameras, covering almost every part of the casino floor, including gaming tables, cash desks and all of its entrance and exit points.”

The matrix controls 152 cameras, covering almost every part of the casino floor, including gaming tables, cash desks and all of its entrance and exit points. Viewed from the control room, the casino operators can monitor customers for their own safety and peace of mind, as well as broader health and safety concerns.

Four Synectics X250 keyboards are used, which should cater for multiple users and accommodate future installation expansion.

The control system, coupled with digital recording, is said to allow casino managers to instantly review any incidents that occur on the gaming floor and provide clarification of bet details.
