Tough recorder passes stringent rail test
08 Jul 09
Bosch’s Divar XF recorder has passed stringent tests to make it suitable for use on railway systems.
The H.264 hybrid recorder, which has a heavy duty mechanical design, has gained EN certification showing it meets tough immunity and emissions requirements.
The EN 50121-4 standard defines the performance requirements for signalling and telecommunications apparatus used in a railway environment.
Equipment must not interfere with other apparatus or risk increasing the total level of emissions to a point where it causes electro magnetic interference to other equipment outside the railway environment.
Within the Divar XF’s heavy duty design is a special cooling tunnel which is said to contribute significantly towards extending the lifetime of the internal hard disks.
The hard disk bays that are mounted on the front also give easy access to the disks for onsite servicing or storage expansion.
Bosch says the new recorder gives real-time high quality video in H.264 compression on a total of 24 channels, with up to eight H.264 IP cameras and RAID-4 storage to prevent loss of video when a single hard disk fails.
The new certification adds to certifications and approvals it has already received for electro magnetic compatibility: USA FCC Part 15, Class B; EU EMC directive 2004/108/EC; Immunity EN50130-4; Emission EN55022 Class B; mains harmonics EN61000-3-2 and voltage fluctuations EN61000-3-3.
It has also received the certifications for safety: USA UL60950-1, EU EN60950-1 and Can CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1.
