DVR keeps track on Grand Prix crowds
19 Nov 09
A CCTV system including Bosch DiBos recorders and Vipex encoders protected visitors to the 2009 Formula One Santander British Grand Prix.
Specified by West Haddon-based Crimesecure Surveillance Services Ltd, the DiBos DVRs collated images from 16 wireless remote cameras via a local area network.
They were monitored at a mobile centre as well as the local police authority.
Chris Healey, MD, Crimesecure said: “We have been using the Bosch DiBos and Vipex encoders for the last two years now and although we have had some teething problems when setting up, which you would expect from a site such as Silverstone, these have been resolved and we are extremely happy.”
A link was set up from the circuit to Northamptonshire Police so officers could monitor the footage real time and access recordings.
At the end of the event, images were exported to USB drives and stored in case it is needed for evidence.
Crimesecure works closely with several police forces providing support for crime reduction initiatives as well as providing mobile CCTV coverage for crime operations and events.
Featuring MPEG-4 digital encoding, DiBos allows up to 30 local cameras and up to 32 IP-networked cameras to be selected with multi-image or full-screen display. A “powerful” search function can be carried out, either locally or remotely.
