RVR opens its doors to third party surveillance training
17 Apr 10
Remote Video Response (RVR), an approved National Open College Network (NOCN) facility, is to provide third party training in the use of CCTV surveillance in public spaces.
RVR will train local authority operatives as well as those of private companies and other remote video response centres.
Colin Walters, the general manager of RVR, said: “Anyone who needs a Public Space Surveillance (PSS) licence from the Security Industry Authority in order to operate needs to be formally trained and accredited. We provide training to our own staff, but as an approved training centre and given the depth of knowledge of our qualified instructors, we are able to extend this capability to third parties.”
Courses for PSS training involve more than 30 hours in the classroom, concluding with a written examination. If that examination is successfully passed, this results in a qualification certificate and an approved license being issued that's valid for three years.

RVR is part of UTC Fire and Security, a company that provides fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers worldwide.
Headquartered in Connecticut, UTC Fire & Security is a business unit of the United Technologies Corp which provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries worldwide.
