G4S wins Associated British Ports contract

G4S Security Services (UK) - part of G4S plc - has been appointed by Associated British Ports (ABP) Humber to provide a range of security services across the ports of Grimsby, Immingham (South Humber), Hull and Goole (North Humber).

The contract is fixed for five years, and entails G4S providing frontline port security and access control for Port Estates. G4S already enjoys a successful relationship with ABP (UK) and already provides security solutions for ABP Southampton.

Speaking to info4security about the contract win, Douglas Greenwell - sales and marketing director for G4S Security Services (UK) - commented: “We are delighted to have secured this contract. ABP Humber needed a specialist in the maritime sector. Given our experience of working with ABP Southampton and our capability to provide UK coverage, we are hoping that this is just the next step in forging a wider and longer term relationship between the two companies.”

Gary Crossland - contracts manager for ABP Humber - added: “It's crucial for ABP Humber to ensure security officers working at our facility understand the Transec guidelines and ensure maritime regulations are applied. We needed to appoint a company that could meet all of our service requirements. G4S has demonstrated the relevant management capabilities, and has experience of maritime security, specifically with ABP. The company also offers unique management information systems which we fully expect will help in improving our efficiency.”
