More from the Security Excellence Awards 2008
10 Oct 08
Last night's 2008 SEAs were a glittering success - and a real showcase for the industry.
The event took place at London's Park Lane Hilton - deep in the heart of the capital's awards ceremony district.
SMT editor Brian Sims gave the welcome address, hobbling onto stage on crutches following a serious ankle injury earlier in the week. That was nowhere near enough to stop him from delivering the ideal introductory speech at a shindig such as this one - entertaining and to the point, with thanks going to all the sponsors and everyone who had helped to make the night the success that it was.
Brian also informed us about the night's charity, Hear4U, which helps individuals from the security profession return to good health and gainful work after suffering illness, injury, stress or related problems. A charity casino and games raised funds for this very worthwhile cause.
The event proper was hosted by comedian Marcus Brigstocke, who was thoroughly entertaining and genial, even coping admirably with a slight technology mishap.
